This trick allows you to take a slide from any PowerPoint presentation and convert it into an image file (jpeg, gif, tiff, etc.)  This comes in handy when you’ve got a slide that contains content that fits well with other materials such as websites, documents, and even email.

Once you’ve converted the slide to an image file, it can be easily inserted into other files such as Word documents, Excel worksheets, Websites, and e-mail messages.  Just use the Insert, Picture function within the specific program.

To Save a Slide as an Image File:

1. Display the slide you want to convert to an image.
2. Navigate to the View tab, then select Notes Page.
3. Right-click the slide image and select Save as Picture.
   PowerPoint displays the Save As Picture dialog box.
4. Select a folder for the image file and type a File Name.
5. In the Save as Type list, click the image file format you want to use.
6. Click Save.

Tips

• If you would like to use the slide image on a web page, or send it in an email or as an attachment, select JPEG File Interchange Format (*jpg).  This compresses the image for easier downloading.
• To maintain high-image quality select Tag Image File Format (*.TIFF)

You can use the scroll wheel on your mouse to scroll from one tab to another on the ribbon.

To Scroll Through Ribbon Tabs:

1. Place the mouse pointer in the ribbon area at the top of the Excel 2007 or 2010 screen.
2. Turn the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll through the different ribbon commands.

Ribbon Shortcuts:  KeyTips

KeyTips allow you to access any command with a few keystrokes, no matter where you are in the program.  Every command in a program that uses an Office Fluent Ribbon can be accessed by using an access key.  You can get to most commands by using two to four keystrokes.

To display KeyTips:

1. Press and release the ALT key.
   The KeyTips are displayed over each feature that is available in the current view.
2. Press the letter shown in the KeyTip over the feature that you want to use.
3. Depending on which letter you pressed, you may be shown additional KeyTips.
   For example, if the Home tab is active and you pressed P, the PageLayouttab is displayed, along with the KeyTips for the groups in that tab.

To cancel the action that you are taking and hide the KeyTips, press and release the ALT key.

Keep the Ribbon minimized for a short time

To quickly minimize the Ribbon, double-click the name of the active tab.

Double-click a tab again to restore the Ribbon.

Keyboard shortcut: To minimize or restore the Ribbon, press CTRL+F1.

Each time you open a file it is stored on your Recent Documents list located within the Office Button menu, allowing you to quickly access that file at a later time.  However, it is possible for that file to drop off the list if many other documents have been opened since the last time you worked on the file.

You can Pin the file to the Recent Document list so that it will not be removed.  This saves you from needlessly searching for the file.

Pin a File on the Recent Documents list:

1. To keep, or Pin, a file in the Recent Documents list, click the Microsoft Office Button.
2. Click the Pin icon located to the right of the document name.To Unpin, click the Pin icon once again. 

Don’t see any files on your Recent Documents list?

If you do not see any files listed in the Recent Documents list, the option may be set to show no items.

To customize the Recent Documents list:

1. Click the Office Button.
2. Click the application’s Options button at the bottom of the menu.
3. Select Advanced.
4. Scroll down to the Display section.
5. Change the Show this number of Recent Documents control to the number of files you wish to see. (Maximum is 50)

To quickly move a paragraph, table row, list or bulleted item up or down:

1. Position your mouse pointer in the text you want to move
2. Press the ALT+SHIFT+UP/DOWN arrow key

For example, CONVERT can translate inches to feet.

Syntax

CONVERT(number,from_unit,to_unit)

Number is the value in from_units to convert.

From_unit is the units for number.

To_unit is the units for the result. 

CONVERT accepts the following text values (in quotation marks) for from_unit and to_unit.
